Campership

High Meadows Camp is pleased to be able to offer camperships for qualified children through two campership programs. The purpose of the campership funds is to provide a full session of camp to children who otherwise would not be able to attend High Meadows Camp. High Meadows works with organizations such as, but not limited to, North Fulton Charities, Star House, and Homestretch. If you are interested in having a child considered for a campership award, please send a letter to High Meadows School to the attention of the Camp Director stating the circumstance and why the child would like to attend High Meadows Camp.

The Jack Gilliom Campership Fund:
This fund was established by the family and friends of Jack Gilliom (1973-1999), who died in an avalanche while skiing in Montana. It is awarded to campers of Hispanic background. The Gillioms have expressed a sincere interest in meeting the campers who will benefit from the Jack Gilliom Campership.

Jack Gilliom and High Meadows:
During most summers of his growing-up years, Jack Gilliom could be found in the fields and woods of High Meadows. During camp, Jack was usually surrounded by the sound of laughter. He told jokes and funny stories and slipped into made-up personalities, like an Austrian body-builder, or a member of the world champion Long-Distance Spitting Team.  He was also known at camp for his skills as a soccer -player, usually playing goalie. Jack loved the natural world, and when he became a counselor, Jack taught others to treat the environment with care and respect. High Meadows was a very important part of Jack’s life, and through this campership, he shares it with a new generation of campers.

The High Meadows Campership Fund:
This program is funded by contributions made by members of the High Meadows community or other sources.  Award recipients must provide information to show their need for receipt of free camp tuition. Applications may come from the general public or through social need organizations.
